This is an incredibly bold painting in many regards and David Flather feels that it is one of his Granddad's finest paintings that he will become best known for. As you can see, the nude woman is not a prominent aspect of this painting - rather the extremely energized storm and seascape is the focus with Donald's sought after stylized clouds and waves. This framed seascape painting overlooking the ocean is from Vancouver Island's Westcoast at Sharpe Point (near Tofino, BC). Donald frequented Vancouver Island and found beautiful scenes to paint.

It is important to note that Donald did not feel bound by "painting norms of the time" which is evident with this subtle nude infused into a beautiful and stormy scene.
